Conversion of an existing building into a wheelchair friendly space, with level access flooring throughout and remote access entrance.
Services
The relocation of an existing boiler and air conditioning units alongside the installation of new radiators and a new duel fuel electric and water digital radiator to the wet room.
The property had a full rewire throughout, with the addition of access controlled internal doors and front entrance. Bi-fold doors were fitted to the rear of the building along with external lighting and power to the sensory pergola.
Site Challenges
Working on a site within a residential community we always endeavour to reduce construction noise and work within the property boundaries, this particular site had a shared access driveway. To ensure we respected the neighbours boundary, there was no onsite skip. All waste was removed daily from the site and transported to a local approved waste disposal expert in the area.
The client attended the site frequently to see the progress of the project and therefore we ensured that the ramped entrance and the internal flooring were kept level and clear of any waste, to enable wheelchair access to the building throughout the project.
Social Value and Environmental
The reuse of materials is always a consideration and we are pleased to say the client was happy to relocate the existing air conditioning units and boiler.
At the clients request we were able to futureproof the property enabling a hoist to be fitted throughout the building should it become necessary at a later date, this is a hidden element and can be utilised by removing the ceiling panels designed to reduce the need for possible further adaptations.
