At Vaughandale Construction, we believe that a supportive and encouraging workplace is the foundation for a team that thrives.

This year, we are proud to celebrate major milestones for five of our long-standing team members who exemplify the values and commitment that make Vaughandale a great place to work.

Darren Atkins, Duane Belfield, Garrie Brooks, and Paul Murcott are each celebrating over 20 years with the company while Managing Director Noel Williams is marking his 30th anniversary—a testament to his leadership and dedication to nurturing a positive work environment.

Darren Atkins joined us in 2004 as a Contracts Manager and has grown into his role through hard work and continuous learning. Known for his friendly greetings and morning check-ins, Darren sets a positive tone in the office. He brings a wealth of knowledge and extensive qualifications, including a focus on mental health & well-being. Darren’s approachability and readiness to share a joke or lend a listening ear creates an inviting atmosphere for everyone around him.

Duane Belfield joined Vaughandale in 1998, as a Joiner Subcontractor and was subsequently promoted to Site Manager. Since joining, his “can-do” attitude has been an inspiration to everyone he works with. Duane’s commitment to ensuring every project runs smoothly is seen in his constant communication with clients and his meticulous attention to detail. With training in everything from Asbestos Awareness to Site Managers’ Safety, Duane is the first to offer guidance and always has a positive word to share. His approach helps foster trust and collaboration among team members and clients alike.

Garrie Brooks came on board in 2004 as a General Operative and has since become a Groundworker and dependable force on our sites. Starting with his NVQ Level 2, Garrie has continued to broaden his skills, obtaining multiple certifications that make him invaluable on any project. Known for his willingness to help wherever needed, Garrie is often called upon for his expertise and calm approach. His contributions reflect the strong, supportive relationships that are central to our work culture.

Paul Murcott began his journey with us in 2001 as a Bricklayer with an NVQ Level 2 in Trowel Occupations. Paul’s dedication to his craft has made him a mentor for many young team members, especially those pursuing a career in bricklaying. Always ready to support his colleagues, Paul’s generosity with his time and knowledge embodies the collaborative spirit we value and nurture at Vaughandale. Reflecting on these remarkable anniversaries, Noel Williams, our Managing Director who celebrates his own 30 years with Vaughandale, shared, “It’s been an incredible journey to watch our team grow and to be a part of creating an environment where everyone feels valued. Our goal has always been to foster a workplace that’s supportive, where people are encouraged to grow, share their knowledge, and find satisfaction in their work. Darren, Duane, Garrie, and Paul exemplify that commitment every day. It’s an honour to celebrate their dedication and to lead a team that feels more like family.”

Noel’s 30 years at Vaughandale have set the tone for a nurturing workplace that prioritises growth, teamwork, and individual well-being. Under his leadership, Vaughandale has become a place where team members are encouraged to pursue continuous learning and bring their best to each project, creating a strong foundation for success.

Together, these five team members bring over 110 years of combined experience to Vaughandale, reinforcing our commitment to creating a workplace where loyalty, growth, and camaraderie flourish. We look forward to many more years of shared success, milestones, and achievements and hope that we will be writing similar articles in twenty years’ time to celebrate the long-term achievements of our current trainees and apprentices.
