Recent Training Highlights: Fire Warden & Manual Handling

In recent weeks, several members of our team have completed two vital training sessions further to enhance workplace safety, awareness, and compliance.

Fire Warden Training

Delivered by Workforce Skills Support, this course equipped participants with the knowledge and responsibilities of acting as Fire Wardens or Marshals on site and in office environments. Key topics included:

  • Fire warden roles and responsibilities
  • Evacuation procedures and alarm responses
  • Types and spread of fire, arson prevention
  • Use and limitations of fire extinguishers
  • Practical extinguisher training

Eight team members successfully completed the course, ensuring our sites and offices are better prepared in the event of an emergency.

Manual Handling Training

P & B Health & Safety Solutions provided hands-on training in safe handling procedures, ergonomics, and back/spinal care — essential for a physically demanding industry like construction. The session covered:

  • Manual handling hazards and risks
  • Team handling strategies
  • Manual handling legislation and assessments
  • Safe lifting techniques and spinal care

With nine staff members completing this training, Vaughandale is strengthening its culture of safe, smart working practices that help prevent injury and reduce risk on every project.
