63 / 64 Friar Gate, Derby – Conversion of city centre offices into 17 residential apartments by VCL · Published April 1, 2017 · Updated February 11, 2019 Conversion of two three-storey 19th century ‘Listed’ commercial buildings within the Derby City conservation zone, to provide 17 Luxury city centre ‘serviced’ apartments. Administered through a JCT form of contract with elements contractors design; the scheme included a two-storey extension to the former coach house to provide a suitable space for self-contained duplex apartments. The design was developed with DCC conservation officer with a remit to retain period features, remove crude 20th century additions and return the premises to their former glory whilst incorporating 21st century technology.
